«Louis Bardon established SA Automobiles et Traction (systèm Bardon) at Puteaux, Seine, in 1899. An early Bardon model had one cylinder incorporating two opposed pistons, each turning a separate crankshaft. By means of gears these turned a single shaft that delivered the power to the transmission. Bardon merged with Gaillarder, builder of the Doctoresse car, in 1901, and some Bardon cars were built in Gaillarder’s factory. Production of Bardon cars ceased in 1903. The Bardon company didn’t seem to be going anywhere in 1906 when it joined with Georges Richard et Cie to create the new Societe Anonyme des Automobiles Unic.”
